Ancient Egyptian is no longer spoken. It’s a “dead” language. It is learnt to interpret Ancient Egyptian texts. That’s it. However, I do enjoy translating from English to Ancient Egyptian and (badly) pronouncing the accepted phonemes. Whatever your reason for learning this beautiful language, I hope you enjoy it.
Middle Egyptian (as I will refer to it from now on), is like any other language. It contains nouns, verbs, <declensions> etc. The first lesson will introduce you to the different types of hieroglyphs (which I will sometimes refer to as ‘glyphs’).
